I will never understand what goes through the mind of someone who can intentionally bring harm to an animal. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small kitten or a scaly snake the fact that people abuse and neglect these creatures never fails to infuriate me.
If you’re of the same mind, buckle up, because this story is a doozy.
It all started whentwo boys were walking down the street in Lanus, Argentina, when they saw an unspeakable horror a dog fully covered in tar.
If the dog looks like a statue, that’s because the tar was so thick that he could hardly move.
It’s not clear whether the dog fell into the tar himself, or whether someone threw him in there and left to die.
What was clear was that the pooch somehow crawled out and needed help, and he needed it quickly if he was going to survive.
Thankfully a police officer escorted the boys and the dog who could barely move toZoonosis Lanus shelter.
There the volunteers started a five-hour-long cleaning process to remove all the tar.
We bought a lot of things, we watched tutorials on the Internet, and we were trying and checking all the products and their results, explained volunteer Myriam Ortellado.
It was impossible to clean it, and then we started using oil and step by step it worked, but we used five liters of oil, she said.
During this arduous process, they decided on the perfect name for the dog Petro, which means petroleum in Spanish.
At first the vets were worried about intoxication, as there was tar in the dogs ears, nostrils and even intestines.
