Nervous Dog Learns About Love

Like the first day of school or getting ready to go in for surgery, being a young pup in the pound must be a pretty harrowing experience. You don’t know anyone, people are leading you every which way, and it’s noisy in ways you’ve probably never experienced. It’s no wonder little Meesha was overwhelmed when she was brought to the BARCS Animal Shelter in Baltimore.

What Meesha hadn’t counted on was the level of care the dedicated employees and volunteers of BARCS provide, which was completely apparent when one of them caught surgical assistant Dennis Moses consoling the whimpering pup. Thanks to the gentle, loving affection from the staff at the shelter, Meesha was able to not only overcome her nerves but was quickly adopted into a new forever home.

We really felt for little Meesha after hearing her almost inaudible cries, and we could really feel the stress melting away as she was showered with kisses, hugs, and affirmations.

Baby Meesha was coming off her anesthesia and was a little scared because her body felt so weird. BARCS Surgical Assistant Dennis Moses took her out into the quiet hallway to comfort her. One of our awesome volunteers just happened to be walking by to capture this sweet moment. Thank you to Dennis and all the staff who work long, tireless hours in the background of our shelter—saving lives and loving the animals. (Turn on the sound, it will melt your heart!)
