After Spending Her Life In A Cage, The Dying Dog Got To Live Out Her “Bucket List”

I am a man who doesn’t consider himself especially vindictive or violent, but when I hear about someone intentionally harming an innocent animal? It gets me steaming. For a long time, animal cruelty laws weren’t really that strict, but thankfully, more and more lawmakers are cracking down on animal offenders

When police in Syracuse, New York recently received a tip about dogs living under inhumane conditions, they sprang into action. Upon arriving at the address, they found a sickly, emaciated dog and her son in a basement with no access to food or medicine.

The mother, Jada, looked as though she only had a few more days left in her when she was found. Estimated to be about nine years old, rescuers believe that Jada had spent her entire life inside the crate they found her in. Unfortunately, there was more bad news …

This is how Jada was found, cooped up in a crate and neglected. Police say that had they not found her when they did, she would have likely died in a few more days.

A lot of dogs can be quite fussy at bathtime, but Jada was in heaven at the feel of warm water and the gentle massaging of her bruises.

Warm, safe and well-fed for probably the first time in her life, Jada was looking forward to a new home and a new life … until doctors found she only had a few months to live.

Jada was diagnosed with a severe cancer that had spread to her lungs. There was nothing anyone could do at this stage other than make her last days happy ones.

That’s what the vet technicians and local community decided to do for her by making a list of life experiences she’d missed out on – a “bucket list.” They also got her a nice warm bed.

Here’s the full bucket list they came up with:

She even made friends with the firemen!

As she continues her struggle to survive her terminal illness, the entire community is bracing for the day they get the sad news. In the meantime, they’re doing all they can to keep her happy.

This may be the most important item on Jada’s list: the well-being of her son, Sonny. Item #21 is simple, but meaningful – “Send my son off to the perfect home.”

This Dog Looks Stunning Now, But Wait Until You See Where She Came From

When rescuers at Rudozem Street Dog Rescue in Bulgaria received a post on their website about a street dog in need, they immediately sprung into action. A concerned resident in a nearby town notified the rescue team after seeing a dog that was on the brink of death. The poor pup was completely malnourished, and if she didn’t receive help, she would surely die.

What they saw when they arrived on the scene absolutely broke their hearts.

It didn’t take long to track the poor dog down. She was clearly in a lot of pain.

If the dog had any hope of survival, she’d need immediate medical care.

As you can see, her time on the streets took a dangerous toll on her health.

Even though she was nearly crippled after months of neglect, the strong pup did her best to regain her strength.

She had a long road ahead, but her determination inspired rescuers to name her Khaleesi.

Once she was strong enough, they gave Khaleesi her first bath.

Even though she’d known nothing but heartache, she welcomed affection from the strangers that would quickly become her friends.

Before long, the pup started coming around.

With a little help from these amazing rescuers, Khaleesi finally got to experience what life should be like for every dog.

She had to spend a lot of time with the local vet, but she was kind and patient throughout the entire process.

First, they made sure that she received all of her vaccinations.

She even got a sweet cast for her broken leg! I’m sure all of the other dogs at the shelter wanted to sign it.

What a cutie!

After a while, her coat started to grow back.

Check out the rest of her transformation!

Can you believe that this is even the same dog?

Rudozem Street Dog Rescue is a nonprofit Bulgarian foundation that rescues sick and abused street dogs, rehabilitates them, and finds them loving homes. Please help them care for more dogs like Khaleesi by donating today.

The 10 Healthiest Human Foods You SHOULD Be Feeding Your Dog — Who Knew?

We all have that one friend who simply refuses to give their pets human food.

And while some human foods such as chocolate and macadamia nuts are proven to be poisonous for our puppy pals, not everything is harmful to their health. In fact, certain people food is great for dogs! To help you determine which foods are okay to sneak into their dishes, here are 10 treats that can positively impact your dog’s health.

1. Liver

Liver is a source of vitamins A, B, and K, and iron. In fact, it also contains more of the necessary daily nutrients that dogs need than muscle meats.

Move Over, Human! This Dog Wants His Turn On The Sled Right Now

Sledding is one of the best parts about living in a place that gets a lot of snow.

When I was growing up, my backyard had a huge hill, so my family would enjoy a whole day of sledding every time it snowed. Sledding, however, isn’t just for us humans — even the furry members of the family can join in on the fun!

The adorable French bulldog below was feeling a bit impatient when his human brother was on a sled, so he did what any sibling would — he kicked the boy off!

The rambunctious pooch rides all the way down the hill, leaving his human stranded in the snow.

Dogs Go Grey Just Like Us But If They’re Turning Early, Stress May Be To Blame

Going gray is a natural sign of aging in humans and man’s best friend.

My mother likes to remind me on almost a weekly basis that more than half of the grey hairs on her head are my fault. While most people don’t begin to develop greying hair until they’re well into their late 50s and early 60s, there are some factors that can speed up the process, allowing people as young as their later 20s and early 30s experience premature greying.

But as it turns out, humans aren’t the only ones that are experiencing premature aging. If your dog has gotten grey in the face before their time, stress could be the culprit.

World-renowned animal scientist Temple Gradin has revealed in Applied Animal Behavior Science that the premature greying in dogs may be caused by stress. It could be a symptom of anxiety.

Gradin initiated the study after reports from animal behaviorist Camille King tied anxious dogs to premature greying. She compared this animal behavior to many past U.S. presidents that have experienced severe signs of aging before and after entering office.
